Then, spend some time...
Ask How?

How can we work together to reach the children in Corinto, Nicaragua?

Our vision is to provide children with tools to empower themselves and others.

That will enable them to build a prosperous and loving community.

Together, our dedication and your support can provide these tools to those that need it the most.

You can help by making a financial donation, or by donating previously worn clothing.  Together, we will - effectively transform lives.

What do we do with the donated clothing?

We follow the most common business practice in Corinto and set up a store inside a home.

Profit from the clothing sales is divided as follows:  60% into the School Fund, 20% into the Care Givers Fund, 10% to Centro Esperanza Corinto  (Hope Center Corinto), and 10%
to salary.

School Fund:  Colegio Bautista Sea La Luz Corinto (Baptist College Be the Light, Corinto), Most of the money raised from selling used clothing, goes directly into the School Fund.  This allows us to provide small salaries for the staff that we need to build a firm foundation of mentorship and leadership through.  The School Fund focuses on the sponsorship of children at different stages of their education, from those entering school for the first time, to those embarking on a university or vocational path.  This sponsorship covers tuition expenses, transportation, and meals while the children are in the care of Centro Esperanza.  Regular reviews mean that fund allocations can be altered to ensure the best use of resources at any given time.

Care Givers Fund: This benevolent fund provides for an important function within the local community.  The Care Givers Fund provides food and clean, safe, drinking water to families that we partner with through Centro Esperanza, it will also facilitate community events and outreaches.

Centro Esperanza:  10% of the proceeds from selling your preloved clothing goes to Centro Esperanza and is used specifically to provide meals to La Costita (The Little Coastal), and other children in need.

What does your financial donation cover?

Financial donations allow us to meet administrative expenses, without drawing from the clothing revenue.  The expenses involved in running the store include:

  • Shipping costs and supplies:  things like boxes and packing tape.
  • Operational expenses:  for example, flyers, website maintenance, clothes tags, fuel, and rent.  We endeavor to keep all of these costs to a bare minimum.
  • Personnel: our goal, in conjunction with the School Fund, is to support two full-time staff who would oversee 126 children on a weekly basis.
  • School Fund:  the running costs of the school are varied, but include electricity and water bills, medical supplies, and supplemental meals, as well as other things like classroom furniture and equipment, supplies and much more.

Can you tell me more about the School Fund?

The School Fund is where it all begins, the core of our work here in Corinto.  ‘The Program’ is run by Colegio Bautista Sea La Luz and overseen by Centro Esperanza, and is a set of curriculums designed to nourish the mind, body, and spirit.  We are developing a sense of community and belonging rooted in the church and school.  Firm foundations for a successful and happy life for these children and their families.

The Program provides an inclusive learning experience for all age groups.  The Program incorporates the following areas of learning for children:

  • Comprehensive Reading & Creative Writing.
  • Self-Esteem & Ethical Decision Making.
